Like many others, I enjoy trying and testing out new things. Right now, I find myself immersed in a mix of passions that span from the creative to the physical, from the intellectual to the adventurous. Here are 5-6 things that are lighting up my days and making life a little more fun.
1. New AI Tools
AI tools have been around a few years, but I've revisited a few as the models have improved. I used headsnap.io to generate some new headshots, which turned out much better than when I tried in 2023. One thing I noticed about the older models is that the hands and eyes were often anatomically odd (six fingers, cross eyes, etc.). The new models, however, generated excellent headshots with accurate hands (although they seemed a little oversized).
I’ve also been exploring video generation tools like Kaiber to create unique videos for my website. One of the videos I generated is on the home page. Can you find it? Combining my love for storytelling with cutting-edge tech has been incredibly rewarding. It’s fascinating to see how generative AI can amplify creativity and open new doors for expression, and how far we have come in a few short years.
2. Point of Care Ultrasound
My dad, who is also a physician, recently purchased a Butterfly IQ portable ultrasound. The probe connects to your iPad and can provide several different visual modes. I've been using it to practice cardiac point of care ultrasound, as it is something I commonly perform in the ICU to assess heart function and volume status.

3. Fundraising and Training for the Boston Marathon
I've been fortunate to obtain a charity spot for the 2025 Boston Marathon to support A Leg Forever Foundation, which provides prosthetics to amputees in need. I've been fundraising for a few months with great success. I've also been following the BAA Level One Training Plan and have been enjoying it so far! It can be tough to stick to a strict training schedule, especially since it's too cold to run outside, but I've managed to make treadmill runs entertaining with some Netflix shows. I have some spring half marathons I'm signed up for, and I am excited to see how those warm ups go!
4. The Solar Eclipse in Cleveland
April brought an awe-inspiring moment to Cleveland—a solar eclipse. I was lucky to have the day off from work and attend a pool party with amazing food, drinks, and of course eclipse glasses! Watching the moon slowly align with the sun and cast its shadow was nothing short of magical. It was a rare opportunity to pause and marvel at mother nature. Moments like these remind me of how interconnected we are with the cosmos and how important it is to take time to appreciate the natural wonders around us.... with a mojito in hand.
5. Getting my Nails done with Tav
@NailedbyTav is an amazing nail artist based in Pasadena. I was lucky enough to travel out to the LA area a few times this year and schedule an appointment with her. She gave me two of the most epic manicures I've ever had. Have you ever had a miniature diet coke on your finger? I don't think so.
